  • It is best to set plants in early spring.  Select well drained soil that is as free of grass and weed seed as possible.  Plant in a 6-8 inch deep furrow so that the crowns are above the soil. All roots need to be below ground for better growing success. Set plants in the row 12-18 inches apart. Suggested row width is 36 to 48 inches. Keep clean of grass and weeds.  Plants should be set properly and watered.
